Fred Williams, 1978-1979, John Brack.

Williams and Brack were close friends since they were art students and they showed their work together in the late 1960s. The Infinite Horizons exhibition notes that this portrait reflects the “psychological complexity” that comes from the artists’ intimate life-long friendship.

I have a fierce desire to paint colour.

I finally went to the Fred Williams exhibition, Infinite Horizons, earlier this week. It was profoundly moving. I’ve written before how I grew to love Williams’ work over the years. This exhibition solidifies my wanton adoration for his art.
The exhibition is showing at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. It ends on the 5th of August, so if you’re a Melbournian and haven’t been - run! Good news for everyone in our nation’s capital - it travels to Canberra from 12 August and shows to 6 November at the National Gallery of Australia. Lucky!
I’ll be showcasing a couple of my favourite pieces later today. You use the time in between to catch up with this Australian master.
